Have you ever wished you had a classical Christian education? Or have you wondered how you might go about learning in the classical model? Have you heard about classical education and wanted to go back and try it out for yourself?
We are proud and excited to announce a new program from The King Alfred School: adult education. Jonathan and Jessica Hodge invite you to join their Introduction to the Classics course on Thursday evenings at from 7:00pm to 8:00pm at The King Alfred School. Tuition for this course is £10 a lesson, but it will be free for board members, staff, and parents of the school. The first class will be on September 30th and will continue each week school is in session. This class is designed by working people for working people--no commitment required!
We will begin by reading fairy tales and progress on to a full read through of C.S. Lewis’ The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe during the first term. During the class we will discuss strategies for reading well, explore themes of great literature, and learn discussion habits to aid in self-directed learning. Once we begin our reading of Lewis's classic for children, there will be a small amount of required weekly reading in order to participate meaningfully in class discussion.
Anyone is welcome to join, no prerequisites required! Whether you are hoping to rediscover the joy of reading as an adult, or are an avid book lover, we hope you will join us.
Please let us know if you plan to come by emailing jhodge@kingalfredschool.co.uk
Unsure about attending? All are welcome to visit the class on September 30th for free before deciding that they would like to attend future course sessions.
